Michael James Kirby III
Biography
Michael is a Michigan native and graduate of Michigan State University ('25). He is currently based in East Lansing where he maintains a private lesson studio and freelance performing schedule.
Michael regularly performs on Tuba, Euphonium, Trombone, Electric Bass, and Ukulele. He started his musical journey at the age of 9 playing violin and tenor trombone. By the end of his high school career Michael was proficient in all Low Brass instruments and various fretted string instruments. He has performed in many large ensembles and chamber groups, including the Michigan All-State Symphonic Band, the Capitol City Brass Band, the Saginaw Eddy Concert Band, "Quintessence", the "Strikerz" tuba-euphonium quartet, the Michigan State University Symphony Orchestra and Wind Symphony, as well as Rodney Page's Martin Luther King Jr. "Dream" Orchestra.
With a passion for education, Michael is pursuing a collegiate teaching career. His masterclasses for young students and his compilations of musical resources resources have proven effective in furthering the development of many growing musicians.
